And not just food, quite a few subsidize and/or put price controls on oil.

I suppose you could argue that this is balanced off by the heavy taxes other countries put on oil (or more often on refined products such as gasoline and diesel), but I'm not confident in getting the balance right and even if the intervention does balance out on a world scale it still hurts both places.
