'Friday's IBD has a sobering article on the growth of Internet in the consumer/commerce sector titled "WAS THE INTERNET OVERHYPED".' Is it on the web somewhere? Very funny! I'm catching up on the thread (whew!) after the weekend away. Massive list of posts! I really think the web will go 2-tier: paid/free. Someone recently pointed out to me that even Yahoo, if you took away their earned interest, was still losing money on advertising and they have about 42% of the search traffic. Services will have to start charging or just treat their presence on the web as a marketing expense. At the same time, as you so aptly illustrated, there is no better way to put people in touch with information. Phone companies watch out!
