No, I don't swing to extreme left, just because I REJECT the extreme right's destruction of our country and just because I think we don't need a $500B a year military.
Look, I believe in a balanced budget. I hate the Clintons and won't vote for them, but Bill is the only one who managed to do that along with the Republican Congress at that time. So YES, I think the right President, whether Republican or Democrat, can do that, if they have common sense. Obama has common sense to spare. I'm reading his book right now and I can tell you, the guy is smart as a whip and is very centrist.
Now, if you believe in common sense, then don't tell me we need to spend more on our military than every other country in the world COMBINED spends on theres! That SCREAMS of government waste. We need to cut back to something like $300B a year, which is where is was before Bush took office, and focus our military money on things that count, like Afghanistan and Al Qaeda, NOT IRAQ. In addition, we should sell arms to our allies, but bring our troops home from countries like Germany, South Korea, and Japan, where they can surely defend themselves.
Do I believe in a nuke against the Middle East, in case an Islamic terrorist nukes the US? You bet I still do. But I also believe in not destroying our country and our economy in the process of going after a few Islamofascists who live in caves. We need a President that restores a sense of proportionality to events. Bush is an extremist. |
