For all the Dem voters on this thread, I'm happy to pass on some news from my neck of the woods.

I live the NW corner of the state and it is ultra-conservative. It has voted Republican for over 100 years. The only Dem names I recall seeing through the years were in local elections, although the school boards and most of the judges here are Republican.

In the big elections, the voter turnout is always fewer Democrats....for every ten Reps, maybe 8 Dems show up to vote. There is, however, a significant registered Independent group of voters, I've been told.

The representations among those who voted early was just released in the local paper. First, we had more than expected folks vote early. Second, the turnout was more than two times as many Democrats. In fact, the ratio was 2.2 democratic voters showed up and voted early as did one republican.

This may mean nothing when all the primary votes are counted later tonight, but I doubt it. I think it's meaningful and it means that in my county Democrats are coming out of the woodwork and making their voices heard. It is exciting, although I find myself wondering where the heck all these dem voters have been the last 20 years or so that I've been watching politics more closely.
