I think there has to be a break between trying between trying to consume (and go into debt) into prosperity and producing (saving and investing) into prosperity.

The spending stimulus is a stem in the wrong direction. Introduction of consumption tax - combined with an income tax and corporate tax cut would be a way to go. It could cause a recession - not just a US recession but a global one, but the US would come out of it stronger.
