We just got home from a couple of hours with some very dear - and very conservative- friends. We watched the returns and we had a wonderful time. We're all very accepting of each other's views, and tended to focus, first, on how each candidate might affect us personally, then we moved the frame outward until we were global. It made it sort of impersonal, worked well.

An interesting aside: our friends are evangelicals and he was military...I had sent your quiz to the wife yesterday. She wound up with Ron Paul- which surprised her. ANd then her second was Romney. We thought that was so funny, since mine was Paul and then Obama, so we broke down our answers. It seems to come down to not wanting a lot of gov't interference in most things, but her leaning toward Romney was a product of her beliefs on gay marriage, abortion, etc. where I tended to be very liberal on these, and of course the war.
Still, it does say something about the fundamental appeal of Ron Paul.
