KT,
Honestly, I can't find a single redeeming quality about McCain.
Economics is typically the thing that drives my political preferences. I like long term free market pro business oriented thinkers that have some understanding of monetary issues etc... If the guy is anti-Fed, anti IMF, pro hard money, pro balanced budgets etc... then we are talking love. ;-)
I can disagree strongly with a socialist like Obama, but I understand where he's coming from and think he actually comprehends where people like me are coming from. So it's a respectful disagreement. I don't sense any class warfare, jealousy, hate of free markets and unequal wealth distribution, hate of wealthy people, hate of business, or just blatant stupidity about economics the way I see those qualities in others on the left.
IMHO, McCain is as clueless as it gets on the topic.
IMO, he's also wrong on the terrorism issue.
As you know, I think the republicans are correct in thinking the Muslim extremist problem is much broader than many on the left think. I think "some percentage" of the extremists so actually hate western values, culture, democracy etc... because it's not consistent with their goal of establishing Muslim states wherever they can. However, most republicans seem oblivious to the fact that our interference in the region adds greatly to the problem. McCain is so oblivious to that fact, he's twice as scary. I don't have such a huge problem with people that think we still need to interfere from time to time because the "free world" is still dependent on oil, but at least acknowledge it's a problem and try to correct it.
I think he's a complete idiot on immigration. I think he's a total phony on all the "values" issues.
I don't care if someone is religious or not. I just insist on some common sense on those issues, which is something you often don't get from people that are hostile to religion because they can't seperate the two when they both lead you the same conclusion.
Plus he often behaves like an aZZhole and arrogant SOB.
It's mind boggling to me that he's winning. It says a lot about the other candidates and the way each appeals to only one leg of the 3 legged stool of conservatism.
There's a 0% probability of me voting for Clinton or McCain. |
