I have followed Roubini for years. He and his partner, Stetser, are very sharp. They have been pounding the table for years, anticipating what is happening now.

The reason I'm in the neighborhood of 50-50 stock and cash is that there are many smart people with mountains of money and an overriding interest in the economic system continuing. And they make the rules and can change them, sometimes with very little notice or even contrary notice. Plus, this is probably more the struggle to determine how much you and I are going to have to fork over in all this, and how to go about packaging that bottom line reality. A price will be paid generally but the sun will still rise. There have been other disasters.

I know it's possible we are at the point of trying to spoon the ocean into a bucket, but that is the line of thinking that balances the very good Roubini analysis and keeps me 50% stock. It's not the truck you see that hits you, although I am looking for ways to profit from a down turn.

ARS

Edit: Plus the timing factor. If I had believed the Roubini analysis for years, I would be an unhappy fellow right now. It's the when of it that's really important. Like playing marbles in the midst of freight trains.
