Why not let everyone be taxed by the place where they live and work?

With the exception of the USA that's how it works for the nationals of every country. Not sure what your point is. The US is the only major country that tries to tax its citizens even if they never set foot in the US and haven't for 20 years.

You asked about earned income. That's income you get on a Sched. C, W2 etc. as opposed to "unearned" like dividends, capital gains and interest.

Ok, but what is the full sentence again? What about that income?
