Acme Packet Expects 2008 Profits Below Wall Street Expectations

BURLINGTON, Mass. (AP) -- Communications equipment maker Acme Packet Inc. said Thursday it expects to 2008 profit below Wall Street expectations.
It said it expects adjusted earnings per share between 38 cents and 42 cents for 2008. Analysts polled by Thomson Financial expect profit of 47 cents on sales of $151.8 million. Analysts typically exclude one-time items.

Acme expects sales this year between $142 million and $147 million, compared to $113 million in 2007.

Acme makes equipment that routes phone calls and data over the Internet.

Share fell 32 cents or 3.5 percent to close at $8.70. They fell a further 7 percent in after-session trading to $8.09, following the release of Acme's earnings
