The ethnic Japanese also lost their businesses, jobs and savings while the war was on. And the Japanese Nisei, second generation, were taken from the camps into the Army, and was one of the most decorated units fighting. I was obviously not alive then, but a lot of Japanese worked at The Giant Oak Ranch, where my Dad grew up. To its credit, The Giant Oak did rehire the survivors after the war.

Of course you have to profile during a war. We profiled recent German and Italian immigrants, and caught many spies. But we only put the Japanese into concentration camps. Mostly because they weren't white.
