If you say "X has caused more harm than benefit."

And you list one non-catastrophic harm.

And that's all the data you present.

Then its fair to say that you haven't made your case.

The fact that the debt is higher in nominal (or even real) dollar terms, and that we have to pay more interest (using the same terms) is true, and simple, but it doesn't amount to even "the debt is a worse burden", when you consider the economy has also grown, the interest rate paid on it is low, etc.

Now you can look at all that and argue that the debt is indeed a worse burden, even in the context of a larger economy. That might be questioned, but lets assume its correct for a moment. Even if you have established that, you haven't established that the harm done to the economy by the extra debt burden is greater than the benefit from the lower tax rates.

Now even though I might disagree, the opinion is a reasonable one. I didn't call that opinion nonsense. What is nonsense is the idea that it isn't an opinion, but rather simple hard measurable fact.
