I hope so, and I really don't want it. I live in the USA. The World off gold standard is a grand experiment, which actually allowed the global currencies such as Euro or dollar to run persistent current account deficits. History is full of examples, and all of them ended badly. The time span of this experiment is relatively short (37 years since Gold convertibility of the dollar ended). Recent history is full of currency crises. We'll see if the system survives. If US goes into hyperinflationary death spiral, then definitely not.
