He has Bill Clinton's gift of oratory - speak sweetly while saying nothing.

It is interesting how obama's so-called speaking skills caught on. He essentially repeats himself over and over. As you point out, nothing but platitudes.

In the debates, he is very little different than the rest.

I guess the media believes, because he speaks more "eloquently than Bush, he is somehow an orator.

If he is an orator, then huckabee, guiliani, romney are as well. We don't hear much about those three with the exception of Romney's two speeches.

Example of obama oratory: When I am president we will not wait ten years for a minimum wage increase. We will do this yearly. Sounds nice. Feels good. Means little.

Notably, he doesn't put any numbers next to his promise of annual hikes. That is what presidents do - give the congress a benchmark to shoot at.

What is the expression? "All hat and no cattle".
