NVidia rolls first cellular CPU

Article:

"Until recently the cellphone architecture was all about the phone, but now the cellphone is turning into a computer with designs like the Apple iPhone," said Mike Rayfield, general manager of NVidia's mobile group.

Apple's iPhone uses an application processor made by Samsung. Rayfield said NVidia will pursue the application processor business industry-wide with an aggressive roadmap.

The definition of what computers are continues to change at light speed. For my part, my 2 dual processor computers are more than fast enough for what I do, with the exception of encoding, and that's basically a GPU or separate codex hardware function.

I wish there was more info about Eclipse and how it's coming. I wonder if the SPSN/AMD link would come into play with any possible NVDA deal? I can't imagine any of the independent handset providers wanting to have anything to do with Samsung or anyone else with a vertically integrated cell-phone business. It seems like there should be a big market for SPSN as long as the product is competitive.
