I don't want to be on any team either, I'm a fair weather fan and it likely won't happen in my lifetime where I live...but if every so often throughout history in various parts of the world white Texans were imprisoned and/or killed for being white Texans, including relatives that you would have known personally had they not been killed, you might keep an open mind about it. More survival instinct than right wing pessimism I think.
