No, the idea of moving to Texas, even Austin, was a fate so ridiculously horrible he found it laughable. A lot of CA residents feel that way. Especially about Texas.

I know.

Part of it is that the West has the probably the best climate in the country except for maybe N. Oregon and WA state. And the contrast between CA and Detroit or even CA and Austin is significant.

But its frustrating that significant infrastructure is allowed to rot in the Midwest as land prices in the West skyrocket. Its certainly not good economic policy.
