CFC-PARTICIPATING NATIONAL ORGANIZATIONS WITH CURRENT OR PAST INVOLVEMENT IN SEPTEMBER 11 DISASTER RELIEF EFFORTS

The list of organizations that follows identifies national Combined Federal Campaign participating charities that are currently or have recently been involved in disaster relief assistance efforts in support of the September 11 tragedy at the World Trade Center, the Pentagon, and Pennsylvania.

This listing, which appears in alphabetical order, was compiled by inviting all national CFC organizations to notify us of their involvement. The descriptions of support efforts that appear below were submitted by the organizations themselves.

Contributions to these organizations may be made by completing a CFC pledge card and choosing payroll deduction or attaching a check. The CFC administrative structure will insure that these contributions are forwarded to the organization designated. For information on how an organization plans to use your donation, please contact the organization directly.

Please note that this list does not include local organizations. Many local charities within CFC areas are also involved in helping to alleviate the enormous need. For information on local charities involved in disaster relief efforts in Washington, D.C. and in New York, please contact Ms. Beverly Lofton, CFC of the National Capital Area, 607 14th Street, NW, Suite 510, Washington, DC 20005, 202/628-2263, www.cfcnca.org; or, Ms. Harriet Grayson, CFC of New York City, 2 Park Avenue — 2nd Floor, New York, NY 10016, 212/ 251-4015. A listing of all local campaign offices can be found on the OPM website at www.opm.gov/cfc/html/PCFO.asp.

As you consider giving to help towards the enormous September 11 disaster related needs, also remember the many other charities that depend on your CFC contributions and support to sustain vital community services throughout the country.

Online Giving Outside the CFC In Support of Relief Efforts

President Bush announced on September 18 the opening of a new web site for receiving donations in support of the 9/11 tragedy victims. For more information, visit the site for The American Liberty Partnership.

On Thursday October 11th, President Bush issued a call to children across America in support of the more than 10 million children in Afghanistan whose lives have been devastated by years of conflict and civil unrest. The American Red Cross will be responsible for both administering the fund and developing relief programs to improve the lives of children and their impoverished families who are mired in an extended humanitarian crisis.

Children who want to contribute to the fund can send their donations to the White House, which has established a special zip code for the program: America's Fund for Afghan Children, c/o The White House, 1600 Pennsylvania Ave., NW, Washington, DC, 20509-1600.
