We didn't home school. But I think the socialization issue goes against our present institutional system. IMO its better for kids to be exposed to adults as much as possible rather than being socialized almost exclusively with kids their own age. Kids can always socialize with other kids in church groups, Little League, Scouts, or with neighbors. The institutional educational system of today is pretty new historically and unnatural imo. It creates a strong and often unhealthy youth culture, which at its worst can develop into a "lord of the flies" situation.
