"OFFICIALLY it is supposed to be."

But in practice it continued to be dominated by democrat appointees and small minded people through the entire period of Republican control of Congress. For some reason the name Alice Rivkin comes to mind as one especially effective at pushing democrat preferred budgetary conclusions.

"Always thought that they were somewhat akin to the national Chamber of Commerce in the pro-business, pro-Capitalism policies they enunciated. (Are you telling me that they are not?)"

As I said, if you had reversed the two labels you would have been roughly equally accurate. It may not mean anything to you, or you may be doing it intentionally. Liberal media types are something like 20 times more likely to label a thing conservative than liberal and are considerably more likely to label a liberally biased group moderate or non-partisan than they are a moderate group.
