My daughter carried a 3+ average through HS and had no problem getting accepted, especially in the small state college she chose. Tuition was nearly front pocket change for me because she signed on to some responsibilities in her dorm which got her free room and board. Her HS boy friend, whom she followed to this college, changed his mind about her and dumped her.
Two years later, she quit college in her Junior year to marry a turd. I knew the first time I saw this POS it would never work. They went 6 or 7 years then decided to start a family. They were both teachers at the time. He took a 2 year sabbatical to care for the baby... and never went back to work. To this day he sacks groceries, or works in a 7-11 or some other low-tech job, when he works at all. He comes around to see the girls... and to borrow money from my daughter.
Of course, he decided to sleep around and that's when she put the boot to him. Now she's a single mom with two teen aged daughters. The oldest is in college and apparently no problem, other than a constant need for $$$$. The younger is brilliant and bored. Her Junior year of HS is a mess and we're not sure where she's headed.
I send money to the girls and NEVER hear a "thanks, gramps". Or any acknowledgment that the money ever arrived at all. Still, I'll continue to do that as I know my daughter can't afford this, even though she's a pretty well paid teacher with a masters degree in education. But, she gets NO help from turd. |
