antiarabbigotry.blogspot.com Sunday, April 15, 2007 Mohammad Salah case overview of the American Gulag Mohammad Salah was arrested in Israel in 1993 and sentenced to five years in prison for "supporting terrorism." He was released at the end of 1997 and returned to Chicago to live with his wife and children.
The US had him on a terror watch, but was negotiating with his attorneys to release him from suspicion. But then came Sept. 11, 2001. In 2004, U.S. Attorney John Ashcroft announced that Salah would be charged for being a member of a terrorist organization (Hamas), even though the law designating Hamas a terrorist organization was adopted AFTER Salah was imprisoned in Israel and after he returned to the US ending his associations with Hamas.
But, an undercover informant provided information to the FBI and Justice department asserting Salah was still engaged in anti-Israeli activities, which in US Vernacular means "terrorism."
In October 2006, Salah went to trial on three charges: Terrorism, racketeering and perjury for his denials of being a member of Hamas in an unrelated civil suit.
Just after the trial began, the Justice Department and FBI dumped their informant, Jack Mustafa (his real name is Jawad al-Arouri.) In dropping Mustafa, the Justice Department also dropped all evidence against Salah that he was a terrorist.
Instead, Salah was forced to face only two charges, being a member of Hamas (nearly every Muslim Palestinian who opposes Israel's illegal occupation is technically a member of Hamas), and the perjury charge.
On Feb. 1, a Federal Couert Jury concluded that Salah was INNOCENT of the Racketeering charge, finding him only guilty of perjury.
In Late March, Mustafa was arrested and charged by the FBI and Justice Department of impersonating an FBI agent. One week later, the charges were dropped when the FBI and Justice Department admitted to a judge that their key evidence was based on a telephone wire tap conducted in Arabic AND that their Arabic translation was faulty.
This is American justice against Arab Americans.
