Hopefully, DVx will enable a digital camera the same size as the sony DV and will record in a much more effiecient MPEG compression.
DV is like JPEG. MPEG is much more complex and utilizes motion estimation for a higher compression rate. MPEG 2 for consumer video applications will look as good as DV with greatly reduced bandwidth and storage requirements. 4-10MB/s compared with 25-45MB/s for DV.
My only hope is that it all will fit in a small enough package.
The way cube is going , this could happen before the sony DV's price gets below $2K.
