Wouldn't it be a breath of fresh air to have a candidate chomping at the bit for the responsibilities rather than the power. I want a guy thats like a top flight NFL QB - he wants the ball in the last 2 minutes because he's confident he can handle the situation. I so badly want a leader to step up to the plate and rally the country. We need it so bad right now. I guess thats one of the reasons I keep saying this reminds me of the late 70's. National pride and division were such issues that it felt like we were going down the tubes. Perception is reality for people and my perception of where we are and where we're headed are pretty negative.

Someone stand up and give me HOPE! Hope that we're a better people than the fragmented society we have. Hope that we'll get the fiscal situation under control. Hope that our future is bright. I just don't see that person out there. Obama is as close to making people have hope as we have but I just don't think he's ready. I could see him winning in November and being faced with the same issues Carter had - not being able to push through policy (good or bad). In the meantime we flounder and make no progress.

I can't lie - Bush has been a huge disappointment for me. I don't mean to piss off people on the thread - I voted for him twice. But he's just not been able to lead the country and its far past time that we have a leader. Bush did ok initially but then faded. Clinton faded in the last 2 years of his second term so we've been in a weakened state for almost 10 years AND STILL we have nobody on the Horizon. Is this really all the better we have? I'd rather vote for some of the people on SI because at least they'd admit they don't know it all but they'd work hard to do the right thing. I'm just really down about this situation because it doesn't feel as if its getting better
