Thanks skinowski....your overview helps. My husband's company has been working with some Russians, who live there. He likes them very much in many ways. But everything there does seem to be in a very large state of flux.....Lots of new wealth for some of the young 'insiders', and some very bad conditions outside the major cities. Not much trust between citizens, let alone other countries. I've met some of them, all engineers with more than one degree...some with several. But where we thought there might be a 'new awakening'....we aren't so sure of that now. Especially with China coming on so strongly. We like the people we've met, but sure wouldn't trust the many governments there with very much of anything.

They can't trust their government, and are nearly paranoid about everything in that regard. Who could blame them?
