Personally those that steal $6 billion a year should get the death penalty. Those that committed the fraud at Enron should have been shot. The same of Micheal Milkin should have been shot too. These acts cause a lot of pain and suffering and, yes, even deaths have occurred (heart attacks, suicides, etc). If white collar crime would be penalized like blue collar crime, then we would likely have less of it.

It used to be in Japan after doing such a deed (and getting caught), the offender commits suicide. Sure its harsh, but aggregeous acts should be punished severely

As to equating money to someone's life, the courts do it all of the time in setting damages for deaths on the job, accidents, etc. Large construction projects figure in deaths expected. So while you like to not hear of it, deaths do occur and are valued during court proceedings.
