Condi for VP? I'm not so sure about that.

Yes, she is bright, talented, and certainly a leading Republican and conservative figure. And she'd be very effective in any debates.

But I fear she could become an easy target, primarily because she is so close to Bush, and in that sense, would represent in many Bush-hating moderates minds, a continuation of the Bush administration.

3 or 4 years ago, I would have loved to see her run against Hillary for President. Now, I have serious doubts about her. Also, she arguably wouldn't be particularly effective in bringing home any of the swing states that McCain will need. And, the general consensus on her performance as Secretary of State is rather tepid. She might also raise some doubts about being chosen for race or gender motives, much as there was considerable chaff about Bush I calling Clarence Thomas "the best qualified candidate" in 1991.

Interested in the views of others on the board.
