Its you who talked of budgets and why that forces price elasticity in CPUs. And yes, without software, a computer is useless. Just try it sometime. Look it up, a computer system includes both software and hardware and the software currently comprises the bulk of the cost by far. And thats before considering the annual licensing fees. One MRP package costs $50K a year for 5 seats. That's $10K per user per year. And you want to quibble about $100 or so more for a CPU. Get real!

Like I have said before, you obviously haven't been in a corporate environment and how much it costs the department to put a PC on someone's desk.
