Being an engineer, such "thinking" seemed insane. As I aged [quickly] I realized that political life is not about good sense for the the management of the commons for the common good but greedy megalomaniacs grabbing and bribing and repressing and forcing.

My socialist "government is good" thinking lasted barely into adulthood. Well, it ended before that really but remnants remained for a while.
