and all americans will pay heavily for that belief

(i) the americans own 50% of the crud (corporates and junk and mortgage) and live in effectively bankrupted (see pension and health care obligations stats) cities that soon will be at nil maintenance
(ii) europeans and japanese own the other 50%
(iii) americans own but also fund about 100% of the munis of 50% of the federal junk
(iv) china & japan and to lesser extent, europe own 50% of the federal junk

all are in line of progression of collapse, by way of successive chain of bailouts, via outright default, fiat inflation, taxation, confiscation, redistribution, lowering of purchasing power, increase in genuine funding cost, etc etc

the mathe works in one way only
