My youngest sister was born in 1956, so is several years younger than I am....She grew up in the era that parents were to be "friends" with their children, and carefully explain every single thing to them, so as not to hurt their little feelings.....She's had some of the same troubles with her kids...they are both in their late teens now, and MUCH better now that they realize their Mom has some brains after all....

We did some of that with ours, but if I really wanted them NOT to do something, I said it, and if I had to say it again, they knew that Mom would NOT be a happy camper. They didn't like having to go to their room, and only read a school book....no phone, no toys, no nothing. For serious offenses, they stood in the corner for a period of time, no hands touching the wall.. time depended on the "crime"....<ggg>
