First, GM shrunk the dealers.

Then they dropped brands they owned for lower volume.

Now, people are wondering how they can recover in the US market? Tax rebate from write down is not going to help the future.

They have to establish their platforms in the US. And they have to restore brands they owned. This will play well with their newer assembly plants, where the platform is the same, and exterior and interior can be made for different brands. Transportation by train is relatively cheap.

Brands are established by price point; so that much more profits can be had for lower volume brands.
