The PHC, or Highway 1, has become the modern day equivalent of Highway 66--never finished. <g>

While I avoided most California earthquakes (I was out of the Grand and Beautiful State at the time of those events), I was there for the real biggie in 1989--Loma Prieta. I had just left the local supermarket and was waving to a friend. I thought my car was "missing," causing me to mutter curse words no lady should ever even think to mutter <g>. It wasn't until 8:00 that evening that I learned we had had an earthquake and the magnitude thereof.
