Ok - let me try. First of all, I think most Americans sympathize with the Israelis in their conflict (regardless of our religious affiliations). I think no group of people want peace more than they. The only caveat is that the peace settlement should not be a suicide pact.

Look at Gaza - give them land and what do you get - missles. Leave Lebanon and what do they get - missiles and provocations.

To the extent that you and Nadine continue to joust endlessly - it is wearisome.

Look at it this way - Israel is a reality. Until the Palestinians accept that fact they will continue to suffer - and the world with it. When they truly accept that reality the nature of a settlement will emerge. Until then - the conflict will continue.

I believe Golda Meir had it right when she said something like "until the Palestinians love their children more than they hate Israel there will be no peace".

Until that time I am a supporter of Israel. Now don't bug me with all the subset questions that that implies.
