Tony; One of my sources won the fortnight's directors prize at Cannes for Metal Messiah. He currently owns a production co and a video equipment and film rental house. I e-mailed him our dialogs, and asked for his comments.
He agrees with me. Those with an investment in the older generation equipment are quite anxious to validate the continuing value of their equipment which continues to work well and he sees no fault in that. However there is truth in my assertions that the Wintel equipment is growing very rapidly in the field, and that the share of those who cling to Apple is shrinking(the installed base remains and gets upgraded but new installs are way down for Apple)
The erosion of analog by digital is a rout.
He noted that Babylon Five special effects are made on an Amiga, as some other poster commented he had seen Amigas in four film studios he had visited. The Babylon five producers had been apalled at the SFX quotes they got from ILM and others in the field, and found an alternative as others are doing.
