Well tell that to the relatives of the 100+ Afghans who were killed this past weekend by a suicide bomber. There was a time when suicide bombers were non existent in Afghanistan......before the arrival of Bush.

Uh, do you realize that during and after the Soviet war, the country was wartorn - massive violence, millions of refugees, hundreds of thousands of maimed, widows and orphans.

So. That was over 20 years ago.

One suicide bombing impresses leftwingers who live in an America made safe by its power.

Huh? This is not the first suicide bomber in Afghanistan. Suicide bombings have been increasing over the past two years. In fact, there was a second suicide bombing in Afghan. today killing 35 people.

Afghanistan may be at its most peaceful point for the past three decades now.

What? The most peaceful time was probably under the Taliban.

Are you guys totally unaware of recent history?

Brumar, you have to stop getting your history lessons from the RNC.

Really? You know that how?

Our satellites had no problem finding their training camps.

You mean the same spy satellites that showed Sadam allegedly trafficking in WMDs. Please excuse me if I am a bit skeptical.

-----------------------------------------------------------

let't not forget the Taliban......they too have been rebuilding and reasserting themselves in Afghanistan.

They never stopped asserting themselves. But the Taliban is not resurgent:

No kidding:

"A bomb blast in southern Afghanistan has killed at least 35 civilians. Many people were injured, including three Nato soldiers, officials say.

The blast, apparently targeting Canadian troops in a Nato convoy, took place in Spin Boldak town in Kandahar province, near the Pakistani border.

A bomber in Kandahar city on Sunday killed more than 100 people - the country's bloodiest attack since 2001.

Nato troops in Afghanistan have been battling a resurgent Taleban militia.

Fifteen international troops have been killed in Afghanistan this year, most of them from the US.

Some 40,000 soldiers from Nato countries are deployed in the country, where their tasks include aiding reconstruction, tackling opium cultivation and battling the Taleban.

Spreading influence

The Taleban claim to have influence across most of the country and have extended their area of control from their traditional heartland in the south.

They have a significant presence around Kandahar from where they carry out suicide attacks and roadside bomb blasts.

The militants are also known to operate freely in Wardak province, neighbouring the capital Kabul.

Last year, violence in Afghanistan reached its highest levels since the Taleban were forced from power in 2001, analysts say.

Last November, a suicide bombing in the northern Baghlan province killed 79 people - mostly school pupils - in what was until then the bloodiest bombing since the Taleban were ousted in 2001."

The latest suicide bombings coupled with the increase in NATO deaths last year and the article up above make the article you posted to me look ridiculous. This is so typical of how it went with Iraq....the free press was saying the things were worsening in Iraq while the controlled, rightie press was saying everything is fine.

Brumar, the rest of us have grown very weary with all the denial found on the right. The right has never been very well grounded but that condition has grown much worse in the past ten years. We don't have any more time left to jawbone with you guys, hoping that you will come around.
