The Laurentians was where our first-born started life [as a zygote] during a snow storm which closed some roads.

The change of seasons is dramatic. In January, in the depths of winter, the snow doesn't melt at all, whereas in May, a snowstorm stays on the ground just for a short times.

We got about 10cm of snow in May and a pile of it in early September so summer is a brief affair in Canada. 9 months of snow is too much and 6 months of it on the ground is too much too.

Then the black flies arrive. Reinforced with mosquitoes.

San Diego is wonderful.
