@Joe - PCM/FE/MR/etc. pp

The way I see Flash in general evolving, its clear to all of
us, that costs are probably the main issue for new techno-
logies in that segment. So all the new possible candidates,
which the press talks about seem to be hardly a good compe-
tition against current NAND status or Charge Trap in form
like SPSN is doing it these days (SFUN stuff too).

PAM seems so sure, that NAND has the clear lead, just all
evidences point to other directions.
Just to make that statement more fair, it should be clear
to everyone too, that current NAND (when we want to compare
it with NOR) has big cost scaling advantages due to the
size and amount of FABs - thats a no brainer. SPSN would be
on a roughly equal position, if SP1 could produce 25K per
month with 300mm and 45/65nm - thats clear.
But from others aspects, it seems more and more the case,
that NAND in its current form has big big scaling problems,
which will grow as we speak. And it seems at least for me
very clear, that all solutions around that problem lead to
bigger DIEs compared to the "old" stuff and/or worse SPECs,
which could be seen already in form of MLC stuff. I haven't
seen any solution from all NAND guys yet. So, that doesn't
mean there is no solution coming, but as said a dozen times,
the "easy living" is over - thats it. Spansion has to ramp
FAB25 down to 65nm with additional SP1 300mm 65nm stuff. If
they do this, they will have with Quad an extreme good (cost)
solution. So, it has to be seen, how fast we could ramp these
designs - if history is a good lesson, it will take long.
