I had a most liberal friend visit this weekend as a house guest. Usually she WILL NOT discuss politics, because she doesn't want me to "try to change her mind"..... GOOD grief.
Turns out she is leading the charge for Obama in her local area. She had told me she wouldn't talk anything about politics with me unless I promised to read Obama's newest book. I thought about that overnight, and decided I would, IF she would read Newt's newest book. (she thought I might say Reagan's...) So she was quite reluctant to do so, because "she felt so negative about him, and doesn't like what he says".... I suggested we both read the other's books, with a good spirit, and not a preconceived one....(She already heard me that I view Obama as a supreme Socialist)....she feels those words, Socialist and Marxist, don't mean anything in today's verbage....(I didn't go there with her)
She had asked earlier if I heard Michelle Obama's actual comment, or if I was just listening to "conservative talk radio...." I said I hadn't heard it, but would look for the transcript of her speech. That shut that up.
BUT I did go one better. She left this morning, cheerful, etc....but she will find when she arrives home, my email suggesting that in fact, Michelle Obama did in fact say those words....Slowly, carefully, there was no goof up in her intent....she intended to say what she did. You Tube shows that clearly, in at least six different videos from "Michelle Obama Feb 18" --
