What a joke. Whatever happened to one man one vote and majority rules? This is communist.

I think it's actually more democratic than it used to be. You have to think of the parties as clubs, not separate democracies within a democracy. Rules come down from "on high". The years ago tradition is making these decisions in smoke filled rooms, a bunch of cigar smoking pols (that could deliver teir votes) trading favors and hand picking the nominee. The rest was window dressing.

It's better than it was but its still a hybrid.
