The UN is most unlikely to solve AGW. The Bush administration has inadvertently done quite well at setting things in motion by the misadventures in the ME and $100/B oil (despite Dick Cheney, that bastion of anti-environmentalism claiming oil would be what , $30/B or $20/B or some such nonsense prior to Gulf II). This was much better than any environmentalist such as Al Gore could have done, since those inclined to yap about environmentalists wrecking the economy, tend to also yap with delight about the WOT. Everyone is happy this way. Even all those economists who claimed that doubling or tripling our energy cost would just destroy life as we know it. Turns out their models must have been a little off.

The only way the UN would have a prayer of taking over the world is if the US screws up so badly on AGW that a significant fraction of the earth's population is in dire straights. Myself, I don't see that.
