So sorry to hear about your loss, and that of your family, but also glad that today went well for all of you! Especially hope so for your Granddaughter.

Both of mine were very different, but both loved me very much, and I felt it even to this day. It's always the little things we remember so fondly. My maternal Gramma took me for my first ice cream sunday. I didn't know such things existed when I was 7, and certainly didn't know about marshmellow cream and butterscotch syrup over vanilla ice cream. Plus it had whipped cream and a red cherry, with some nuts on top. I thought we had gone into heaven. I remember her laughing and having fun too....

My other Gramie lived on a ranch, and made so many wonderful treats. Including fresh white sponge bread every time we came to visit. With fried chicken and potato salad. She made the mix for the icecream that Granddad turned into icecream, and sometimes let us kids turn the handle "if we were really good."
They even "let us" pick our own green beans or peas for dinner, and again, if we were good, got to help shell or string them.

Wonderful memories....
