Couple of short reactions on Samsung's 30nm SONOS called TaNOS:

- Samsung keep driving their train fast. It would be good to know when this 30nm product is due. Around the time when Spansion gets to 45nm??
- The divide between NAND and NOR and even DRAM continues to fade with these crossover products (like flex OneNAND, ORNAND2 and Eclipse).
=> It's clear to me that from the two big NOR vendors Spansion is best positioned (the other one being Numonyx). It's pretty clear that the whole industry (NAND and NOR) is moving towards charge trapping in the form of SONOS, which is Spansion's turf until Samsung gets there too with 30nm. Spansion might well use a Mirrorbit 2b/c construction with SONOS, while Samsung might not in the first iteration of its SONOS (TaNOS). That's at least what I expect. Interesting. It looks like Samsung will compete more directly with Spansion (wag: half a process node time) after 30nm introduction. When is Samsung's 30nm?

Regards,

Rink
