[CPQ and ADSL]

<<<So if you combine Nortel's clout with carriers and Compaq's corporate and consumer sales reach, you wind up with a team that actually could accelerate the growth of the budding DSL market, Gage said.>>>

While I'm glad the technology will get a boost from an announcement of this magnitude, I'm concerned because Netspeed's solution is non-standard and therefore wouldn't be compatible with GTE's CO ADSL, for example. Now, apart from GTE's standard ADSL, if BC goes with either Alcatel's or Westell/Amati's DMT, what are the chances CPQ will choose a non-standard interface?

I have no idea how imminent such an announcement might be, so this is an honest question.

Cheers!

Pat
