Medical practices are doing this on thier own. Government mandates are slowing it down.

"That will take a lot of the cost out of the system."

There is a first time for everything. I suppose it is possible that it would save medical providers money, but that has not been the experience of those I know. Like most computerization its benefits are in speed, reliability and repeatability.
