I don't see how it could fail to help. If you had one set of codes and an integrated system, you wouldn't need the staffing you do now. Current systems are clunky, still. It takes a while for them to mature and for an industry to build up around them. Look how easy it is to buy something on the internet now. Processing medical billing and sharing files should be nearly as easy. You need to establish, though, the equivalent of UPS, Paypal, Visa, etc, to smooth things out.
