Scott-
That is very true no one really knows what will occur.
But your original post was not a “I really can't tell you what will occur ... I don't know. “
When you post something like...
“Wow...completely out of the blue! The wild ride continues ... and now they are even more fully funded ... The issue for Novell that I have heard .....From what I have been told....It's a wild ride folks, and the fat lady obviously has not sung yet ... “
This at least implies, you know something or have been told something or are aware of something or at very least believe something that would be beneficial for SCO. So tell us your thoughts, how does it play out well for SCO?
My opinion is, If the only card SCO has left to play is a breach of contract claim against Novell based on the non-compete restrictions, the game is over and they are just playing out the hand.
SCO has made so many public claims about Unix in Linux, they have asked people for money based on this. If these claims are not alive Red Hat, IBM (and others) will be lined up on the door to collect on the false claims.
Maybe they could win a contract claim against Novell, I have no idea. For all I know if this is where they started maybe they would be able to win and make big money from it (Does anyone know the specifics of what the contract says about this?). But I don't believe they can start over and ignore all the other litigation that is going on. It has already been ruled they owe Novell money, once that case is done the IBM and Red Hat cases are waiting, and if there is nothing positive for SCO on the Unix in Linux front, I don't see how SCO has anything left but being a defendant in those cases.
I am not sure if the fat lady sings when the game is over, or when the results are no longer in doubt. But in my opinion, a non-compete contract claim against Novell does not put the results in doubt.
Regarding the lottery ticket—a few years ago you told this list that you hoped to buy sco stock at $4, now you have a idea were you could see this stock going to $1. So I am not sure this is the kind of lottery ticket most people would be interested in. |
