The article states the aides believed the affair was romantic. and the NY Times would never print that unless it was confirmed by multiple credible sources. Also, McCain was invited to be interviewed or comment on the story and refused. He has known about this for a long time and let it go without his input.

We also heard him say the other day "I am not perfect". That is the same thing Guiliani was saying before hie scandals broke, including adultery and mob-linked corruption.
