Saw Newmont and Barrick earning today, and just had to make a comment.

I often had favorable Barrick comments regarding their ability to develop a mine piepline
and mine the gold profitably, and took a lot of grief from the anti-hedge gold bugs for it.

Meanwhile, I never got excited about Newmont and thought they were too dependent on Nevada and Peru.

Today's earnings reports say it better than I do, Barrichk earning up 28% and Newmont posts a loss.

While Newmont is dealing with problem mines in Nevada, Peru, and Australia (and developing Hope Bay),
Barrick is moving forward and buying the rest of Cortez in Nevada (acquired with Placer Dome) from Rio Tinto.

Posted the three news releases on my blog: goldtutor.com
Anyway, that is my quarterly comment/post
