The NY Times piece is not a "fake story". Although no know but the two principles know if they had sex, McCain did go out of his way to lobby for her client, illegally the FCC says, and he took this gorgeous sexy lobbyist with him many times as a companion. It's also true that his aides were alarmed and moved to break it up and warn Iseman to stay away. Why would they do that unless they had genuine fears?

Just the facts we know about still cast doubt on McCain's clean as a whistle image and this will hurt him with idealistic independents. Of course the rightwing can forgive anything, including Bush taking money from the Bin LAden family, the murder of Pat Tillman and Cheney's many corruption crimes and lies. But independents will not be so forgiving.
